Our historic building (constructed in the early 1900’s) is located in lower North Mankato, just across the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge, from Mankato. Our 200 block of Belgrade Avenue is a community in itself. We have a bank, post office, gas station-convenience store, dry cleaner and places to eat and drink.
With the changing of the craft industry through the years, we now concentrate on Candy-Making and Cake Decorating supplies in addition to working with silk flowers. We still have supplies for some of the older crafts, but when we no longer have a supplier, they too will disappear.
In addition to crafts, our interests have gone towards history and telling others about it. We offer a 2-hour history tour of our area or just a guided tour including your wishes. We have books for sale that are written about the area or are written by Minnesota or Mankato authors. Examples are books by John Koblas on Jesse James. Egbert Schaller, was a Lutheran Minister and we have books comprised of his sermons.
We were introduced to a marvelous product for cleaning your woodwork or just about anything with the exception of leather, called Kramer’s Antique Improver. We used it to redo the woodwork in our farm house when it was renovated. Ask for a demonstration when you are in the store to see this all-natural, chemical-free product for yourself. We also carry soaps and lotions for sensitive skin. Many products cause skin to turn red and are irritants to those with sensitive skin. Sharon uses these products on her own skin. Sween Gentle Rain soap, moisturizing lotion and cream.
